I’ve not blogged in quite a while, and I’d like to take a moment to let folks know what I’m working on. Countless times, my work has been compared to Discworld by Terry Pratchett. Honestly speaking, I have never read anything by Pratchett until yesterday (for shame, right!). I suppose I finally wanted to figure out what our work has in common and make sure that I keep doing it. I hear that he was a pretty popular fella!
Anyhow, I’ve started a handful of projects (Terminus, Atlantis, Fleet), but am deep into a brand new series that is part fantasy, part science fiction and part steampunk. An odd combination, I know, but it seems to work. In fact, the first novella is finished and I’m hammering away on the second, which is a full-length novel. This series doesn’t even have a name yet and I’m already in love. The words absolutely flow out when I’m writing about these adventures and I’ve learned that’s a good thing. It’s the difference between writing out of love and writing out of obligation. I’ve done that, too (cough, Colony: Bravo Team).
At the end of the day, I’m finally back to enjoying this thing they call writing. I hope my readers are prepared for a bit of fantasy, as well as the legend of Dalton James. Yep, you heard right!
